Adam Khan: Pakistani international goalkeeper on trial at Reading FC
A former Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper is currently on trial with Reading FC. Adam Khan, born on 24 October 2005, has been given an opportunity to impress the Royals' coaches and link up with their academy setup.
Last week, the 20-year-old was named on the bench for the Reading U21 team in their match against Liverpool U21 on 17 October 2026. Reading U21 plays in Premier League 2 (PL2), which is the highest level of academy football in England.
Reading frequently uses these PL2 games to take a closer look at trialists. The club is currently checking their goalkeeping depth across different age groups, giving Khan a great chance to secure the next step in his career.
Before coming to Reading, Khan recently spent time on trial at Salford City. During that trial, he played for the Salford B team in a match against Mansfield U21.
Club career and background
Khan started his youth career at Crystal Palace before moving to Blackburn Rovers. He gained solid experience at Blackburn, making 17 appearances for their U18 squad and 13 appearances for the U21 team.
He even made the bench for the Blackburn senior team during pre-season. However, he became a free agent after his contract expired and he was released by the club in June 2026.
International experience
He is also a Pakistan international. Khan was called up to the Pakistan U23 team in September 2025 for the AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers. A few months later, he made his debut for the senior national team on 18 November 2025, in a match against Syria.
However, he has not been selected for Pakistan since that game. Securing a spot at Reading could be his chance to get regular playing time and return to the national team.
