Abdullah Iqbal Makes History with UEFA Conference League Debut
Pakistan international defender Abdullah Iqbal made history by becoming the second Pakistani player overall to feature in the UEFA Conference League. He featured for his Swedish club Mjällby AIF in their 2026–27 UEFA Conference League league phase match against Inter Club d'Escaldes on October 15.
Iqbal made an immediate impact on his European debut, registering an assist for Axel Norén's goal via a corner kick in Mjällby's 2-0 victory, with his standout performance earning him Man of the Match (MOTM) honors on Sofascore. He follows in the footsteps of midfielder Etzaz Hussain, who was the first Pakistani to play in the competition, making 12 appearances and scoring three goals for Norwegian side Molde FK during their 2021/22 and 2022/23 European campaigns.

PFF Names 14-Member Squad for FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival
The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has officially announced a 14-member squad for the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival 2026, taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan. This marks Pakistan's first-ever appearance at a FIFA World Cup-branded youth festival event. The team is scheduled to depart from Islamabad on October 20, competing in an 8v8 format with 20-minute halves.
Preparations for SAFF Championship: Camp Dates and Squad Doubts
Ahead of the upcoming SAFF Championship in Dhaka, the Pakistan national team's training camp is set to officially commence on October 26, with the squad scheduled to depart for Bangladesh on November 2.
Young forward McKeal Abdullah has been called up and is set to return to the national squad for the tournament to bolster the attack. The 21-year-old, who currently plays for Ilkeston Town in the English Northern Premier League, last featured for Pakistan back in Asian Cup qualifiers against Afghanistan last October.
However, significant doubts remain over the availability of key defenders Easah Suliman and Abdullah Iqbal, as their respective clubs have yet to officially release them for the tournament due to scheduling conflicts outside the international window. Official confirmation is still awaited, and Suliman recently addressed the situation in an interview, stating that he is waiting for final clarity, noting that nothing is confirmed yet although he remains hopeful of taking part.

Mohammad Fazal Returns to Squad for Nordic United
After missing Nordic United's previous game due to a thigh injury sustained on international duty during the FIFA ASEAN Cup, Mohammad Fazal returned to the matchday squad on October 18. While he did not feature on the pitch, he was named on the bench for Nordic United's 2-1 victory over Norrby IF in the Swedish Superettan.
PFF Launches New Era of Domestic Football Development
Under the leadership of President Syed Mohsen Gilani and COO Muhammad Shahid Niaz Khokhar, the PFF has initiated a comprehensive drive to revive domestic football, using the ongoing U-17 National Championship as a foundation. According to The News, the federation aims to build a sustainable talent pipeline by evaluating players for a 50-man national pool, supported by improved accommodations provided by the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), dedicated FIFA safeguarding officers, and the largest prize money structure in PFF history to incentivize regional teams across the country.
