Nolberto Solano hints at extending his contract with PFF
Pakistan national football team head coach Nolberto Solano has hinted at a possible extension of his tenure with the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF), putting recent speculation about his future to rest.
Speaking in an interview with La Hora de Lalo on Radio Ovación, the former Peru international ruled out any immediate return to Peruvian national team duties, particularly with youth sides.
“It’s an honor to work for the Peruvian national team. I had the opportunity and a great time during the World Cup with Ricardo (Gareca). Right now, I’m committed to the Pakistani national team; my contract runs until August, and they intend to renew it. There’s nothing to that rumor, but this is football, and we’ll see what happens. I always wish the best for the national team, and hopefully, we can get back on track,” Solano said.
Solano signed a one-year contract with Pakistan and has been tasked not only with rebuilding the senior side but also overseeing the Pakistan U-23 team, highlighting PFF’s long-term vision under his leadership.
So far, Solano has managed three matches with the Pakistan senior team. His tenure began with a 0–0 draw against Afghanistan, followed by a 1–1 draw against the same opponents, showing early signs of defensive organization. However, Pakistan later suffered a 4–0 defeat to Syria, underlining the challenges that remain as the team continues its rebuilding phase.
