Who is Ali Khan from Vasalunds IF? Pakistan Football's New Acquisition

PakFutball

Ali Khan, the 25-year-old winger, has been named to the Pakistan national squad for the upcoming international tournament in the Maldives.

After more than a year of bureaucratic delays and paperwork issues, he has officially received his Pakistani passport. He had to wait patiently for the administrative process to conclude, but the hurdles are now behind him with his documentation finalized.

"I told them I ain't leaving the embassy until they gave me my passport."

A Unique Physical Profile

Standing at 6'3" (1.90m), Khan brings a rare physical profile to the national team. While primarily a left winger who cuts inside on his right foot, his height and strength have also allowed him to play effectively as a center-forward, a role he took on during his time at FC Järfälla. Khan's development began at Bele Barkarby FF before he moved to the Djurgårdens IF academy, where he played for the U19 and U21 teams and briefly featured for the senior side. In search of regular playing time, he navigated the lower divisions with Tyresö FF and Järfälla before signing with Karlbergs BK in 2024. At the time of his signing, Karlbergs' head coach Baran Coskun noted his potential, stating:

"His strength on the counter-attack and technical skill will contribute a lot of points for us."

Overcoming Setbacks

Coskun's assessment proved accurate, as Khan quickly became a key offensive player for Karlbergs in the Ettan Norra. He was having an excellent season and consistently contributing to the attack when a severe injury abruptly halted his progress. The setback required an extended period of rehabilitation, keeping him sidelined for the remainder of the campaign and interrupting a highly productive year.

Despite the long layoff, Khan returned to the pitch and seamlessly regained his form. He reclaimed his spot in the Karlberg lineup, eventually playing over 2,000 minutes and proving his full recovery. His successful comeback attracted the attention of Vasalunds IF, a competitive side that had just secured a third-place finish in the league. Recognizing his form, Vasalunds signed him on a free transfer in January 2026.

The Next Chapter

Since joining his new club, Khan has been an important asset. Following his national team selection, Vasalunds IF released an official statement expressing their pride, noting that the call-up was a great recognition of his hard work, professionalism, and development both on and off the field. Vasalunds' Sporting Director Azad Budak praised the winger, stating:

"We are extremely proud of Ali and all the work he has put in to get here. He truly deserves this opportunity and we are convinced that he will represent both Pakistan and Vasalund in the best way."

As he heads to the Maldives to join the national team, the next chapter of his career begins. The opportunity is made even more inspiring as he will be working under Pakistan's head coach, former Premier League profile Nolberto Solano. We look forward to seeing Ali Khan make his debut in the green shirt and wish him the best of luck in the upcoming matches and his continuing career.
